To say the Enchantment of the Seas went through a renovation in 2005, is an understatement.
During a renovation, or ‘refurbishment’, most ships will receive new carpeting, technology, televisions in staterooms and maybe a new look to one of the main dining restaurants.
But Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas was, literally, split into two sections, a new midsection was added and she was then put back together again (a little like Humpty Dumpty!) This new midsection added an additional 73 feet in length!
With this upgrade came a larger
pool deck (50% more room!), suspension bridges, the Boleros Latin lounge, specialty steakhouse Chops Grille, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream parlor and coffee bar, updates and additions to most public areas, a champagne bar and the ever-so-glamorous Centrum atrium, complete with glass-enclosed elevators.
The children’s programs offered onboard the Enchantment are perfect to keep your young sailors busy. The Enchantment offers Royal Caribbean’s signature rock climbing wall, along with a bungee trampoline that offers a unique experience to cruising.
The amenities, attractions, activities cater to active adults, families with children, multi-generational families, groups of family and friends traveling together, and corporate and special interest groups, as well.
Another great feature? Its convenient East Coast Baltimore, Maryland departure port makes it much easier to take that much needed vacation without having to fly down to Florida or the Gulf Coast.
The ports of call add to the exciting cruise vacation with stops in Port Canaveral (visit Kennedy Space Center!); Nassau (see the majestic Atlantis Hotel) and to CocoCay (Royal Caribbean’s private island oasis).

I just got back into the Baltimore port and waiting to get off the ship. This is my first cruise in life. But I would say everything on board is very good! Services are excellent, ship has a lot of daily entertainment activities, and ship has a lot of activities spaces and looks so beautiful. I definitely will come back and recommend it to everyone! Michelle – Just wanted to send a comment to you regarding our experiences on Royal Caribbean International’s Enchantment of the Seas sailing out of Baltimore on 31 Dec 2011. The reservations were for (2) Courtney’s and (2) Sellers’s. You could not have made better stateroom placements for each of us! We were in 3592 and 3590, 1 floor down from a main promenade and very near the central elevators, yet far enough away that the noise from each was never an issue. We felt that we were perfectly situated on the ship. The food was much better than our (Courtneys) last Royal Caribbean experience (Sept ’09) and we send many ‘thumbs up’ for the Chops Grille aboard the Enchantment. The food & service there were extraordinary – a great value for only $30 apiece. Thank you for helping make this a wonderful vacation experience for all of us! Sincerely, P. and J. L. and I were part of the “group of 10” who took the 7-day Royal Caribbean cruise from Baltimore. The most disappointing part of the cruise was beyond the control of the cruise line – the weather. It was so windy that virtually all of the waterborne excursions were cancelled, and we could not get in to Cococay because the seas were too rough. Ironically, this is the second year in a row that we have encountered ugly weather in Nassau. We need a new crystal ball. I will not take another cruise to Nassau. Turning to what the cruise line could control: the food, entertainment, and cabin maintenance were of high quality. The cabin steward was excellent and very personable. The ship seemed to be well maintained, and I would give high marks to the cruise director for arranging a number of interesting activities. The ship’s staff, as a whole, was helpful and energetic. I would definitely consider Royal Caribbean for a future cruise. I have spoken to —— and several others in our group about taking a future cruise to Bermuda. Both L. and I loved the atmosphere. I would definitely consider Bermuda a much cleaner and higher class destination than the Bahamas. B. and L. Sellers (12-31-11)
Hello Michelle, The cruise was great. Food was great. My only compliant was the kids were unable to use the indoor pool. They could only use it 12-2 & 4-6 on the first day and the last day. I understand that most ships have an adult only area but it is not usually the center piece of the ship as it is on the Enchantment. This should be disclosed. I could understand in the warm months but this was tough in the middle of the winter when the weather in Nassau was windy and cold and the seas were too rough to go to CoCo Cay. The only other thing was that we had to track down an officer that holds the key to open the door between the two cabins. Room Stewarts don’t have access to the key. My Time dining was great. Just showed up and got seated with the same Waiter every night. Thanks for the follow-up! E. Young (12-31-11)
Well we had an amazing time! The staff onboard was very friendly and remembered you from the moment they met you. Our Room Attendant always opened our door when he saw us coming and always asked how things where. Even our waiter noticed if we missed a night of dinner. I loved the towel creatures that where left on the bed and the way all the staff was constantly keeping the entire ship in clean shape was really great. The only complaint was that we didn’t go to the second island due to weather. I wish there was some compensation for that, even if it was credit to the casino or something the ship would get back. Other than that there where always activities going on and friendly staff to help whenever we needed!! L. Desjardins (12-31-11)
