Sail Away with Nostalgic Flair—Princess Cruises’ Bon Voyage Experience

Something fun and exciting is happening with Princess Cruises.

Part of the thrill of cruising in the past was the celebration with friends and family who came to see you off and wish you bon voyage. Unfortunately though, this practice eventually became just part of a bygone era. For example, due to tighter security measures, Princess did away with the program almost two decades ago.

But, fortunately, now it is back–and even better.

Princess has revived this nostalgic practice, offering their guests “The Bon Voyage Experience”.

This gives passengers the ability to invite their own guests on board to enjoy a four-course dining room lunch with wine, a ship tour and a souvenir photo. You will all be pampered with priority embarkation and have approximately four hours together on the ship.

The cost of the program is $39.00 per person, however, the best part is you can apply that amount towards a future Princess cruise.

“Long-time cruisers will recall the fun of the bon voyage send-off with their family and friends, and we’re excited to re-introduce a new, modern version of this experience,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises executive vice president.

Only total of 50 guests per sailing are permitted onboard to experience this program, so reserve your space early.

This program can only be reserved in advance. Begin reservations through your travel agent for the Bon Voyage Experience 120 days prior to sailing and up to six days before the cruise. Once reserved, guests will be able to input the security information through Princess’s Cruise Personalizer located on www.princess.com.

This program is not available on all ships and sail dates. Once again you can contact your travel agent to make sure your specific sailing is part of the program.

Have you ever been a part of the “Bon Voyage Experience”? If so, we’d love to hear your story!

All About Princess Cays–Princess Cruises' Private Island Retreat

What is Princess Cays?

It is Princess Cruises’ private island destination, located on the tiny Bahamian island of Eleuthera.

Nowadays, most major cruise lines have a private island destination. In most cases it is not actually the whole island that is private, but a small section that has been purchased by that line and for their use only. Princess Cays falls into this category, with 40 acres of Eleuthera purchased by Princess Cruises for their private use.

Eleuthera itself is 100 miles long and 2 miles wide, with Princess Cays located at the southern tip and situated on more than 40 acres with over a half-mile of white sand beaches.

Enjoy the serenity and seclusion this port of call offers, as only one ship tenders (ship anchors offshore and smaller tender boats take you to shore) per day.
