Anyone who has cruised knows that the service you receive on board is one of the perks of a cruise vacation.
Staff members simply go above and beyond. They are personable, and remember all of your wants and needs. Wishful thinking, that this would be my everyday life.
Up until recently, Carnival Cruise Line had one of the lowest gratuity amounts at a suggested $10.00 per person, per day. While Carnival didn’t take the decision lightly, they have announced an increase in the suggested gratuity, to $11.50 per person, per day. That is an increase of $1.50 per day per person, bringing it in line with other cruise lines.
This gratuity rewards your cabin steward or stewardess, your dining staff including bus boy, and the maître d’.
Although the gratuities are added automatically to your on board expense account for convenience, you are able to adjust this amount at the Guest Relations Desk on board. You will more than likely find the amount charged a fair price, considering the exceptional service that is provided. However, if you would like to adjust the amount, whether to make the amount higher or lower, they will accommodate you, no questions asked.
This slight increase will take place on all sailings that depart on, or after, December 1st 2011. If you already have a Carnival cruise booked and have prepaid gratuities, this change will not affect you. All other passengers that have not prepaid gratuities will see the new suggested amount on their on board expense account.
I do hope you find the service as wonderful as I always have and can understand, even with the increase, it is worth every penny–Carnival, along with its staff, truly offer a Fun vacation beginning to end!
