7 Reasons You Are Missing Out if You Don’t Sail with Celebrity Cruises

Most cruisers find a cruise line they love and never try any other line. I guess I can understand that philosophy, why mess up a good thing?

BUT, and a big BUT, if you haven’t tried Celebrity Cruises they are an amazing product and you would be sadly missing out. And here is why:

  1. Personalized service. Don’t be surprised if you are greeted by name on a Celebrity ship. With one staff member for every two passengers you will get outstanding service. If they hear you mention a favorite dessert the chances are pretty high that after your next dinner that very desert will be sent out to you without asking. Celebrity is all about the service.
  2. Butler Service in All Suites. That is right, relax and enjoy assistance packing and unpacking. Enjoy a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner in your suite. If you request it, your butler will make sure it happens, from shoeshine service to afternoon tea. Your wish is their command.
  3. Luggage Valet. This carefree service takes the hassle out of travel. The last evening on board you will receive your airline boarding passes, luggage tags, and baggage claim checks. Simply place the checked bags outside your door and Celebrity takes care of the rest. From the ship to the airport to your final destination airport. Your luggage is taken care of. This is super convenient if you want to spend a couple hours in the city prior to your flight departure.
  4. Celebrity Life Activities. These programs have truly changed onboard activities. Some of these awesome classes are Star Chef Cooking Competition, Mixology 101, Molecular Mixology from the Liquid Chef, Wine Appreciation, The Art of Food and Wine Pairing, Hot Glass Show, Rosetta Stone Language Lessons, and many more. You will definitely leave with a boatload (chuckle) of knowledge.
  5. Celebrity Spa and Fitness. On every Celebrity ship you will find an incredible spa with state of the art treatments and up-to-date fitness center. No reason to gain weight on these ships! Kick that myth’s butt.
  6. Casino. With all of the major games being offered this is definitely an opportunity to try your luck.
  7. Entertainment. Every night you will have a chance to see award winning shows performed. There is also Dancing, Live Music, DJ’s, Interactive Theme Parties, and much more. You will be entertained until your ready to fall into your comfy-cozy bed.

Oh the list could go on and on, but it is better if seen in person. I hope you give Celebrity a chance because it is definitely worth it.

Happy sailing!

Award-Winning Cruise Ship is Cruising to Alaska with a Breathe of Fresh Air

A breath of fresh air is cruising to Alaska, hitting summer 2013.

Speaking to travel partners and press this past week in London, Dan Hanrahan, Celebrity Cruises’ President and CEO, announced a preview of itinerary plans for the summer of 2013.

As part of this announcement, he revealed that the award-winning Celebrity Solstice will join the Celebrity Century and Celebrity Millennium in offering Alaskan cruise vacations.

The Celebrity Solstice, the 2,850 passenger flagship of the Solstice Class, has been named “Best Premium Ship” in Travel Weekly’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards (US) and the entire Solstice Class was recently named “Best Cruise Ships” by Frommer’s 2011.

Celebrity Solstice is the ideal platform for a genuine modern luxury vacation in the gorgeous state of Alaska,” said Hanrahan. “The ship’s sheer beauty will perfectly complement the region’s incredible scenery. And with 85 percent veranda accommodations, our guests will have that many more opportunities to take in the endlessly appealing views, combined with our unparalleled onboard experience and service provided by the best group of hospitality professionals in the world.”

Complete details of Celebrity’s summer 2013 itineraries – including the full slate of featured destinations, cruisetours and dates of departure – will be announced when the first of the series opens for booking in early March.

About the Celebrity Solstice:

Celebrity Solstice is one of the more decorated ships at sea. So it’s no wonder that it’s full of “firsts.” Like the first Lawn Club at sea. The first Hot Glass Show. The first cruise line to have 5 women, also known as “the Leading LadiesSM” redesign, and redecorate the staterooms. Some other things that set Celebrity Solstice apart are its specialty restaurants. Chef Jacques Van Staden’s passion for food has taken the restaurants, the food and the overall dining experience to a whole new level in the cruising world.

But staterooms and specialty restaurants are only part of this ship’s charm. Celebrity Solstice also has the AquaSpa by Elemis and fitness center, where you can pamper yourself with spa treatments or push yourself in a workout with one of our trainers.

If only life on land was as good as life on Celebrity Solstice!

In the Know: Celebrity Cruises Alcohol and Beverage Policy

Celebrity Cruises may have found the perfect balance between a land based all-inclusive vacation and a cruise where food and limited beverages are included.

If you are at least 21 years of age, Celebrity will allow you to bring a maximum of two 750 liter bottles of wine (per stateroom) onboard to enjoy your stateroom. If you   would like to have that wine with dinner, there will be corkage fee of $25.00. Your are not permitted to bring soda or bottled water onboard.

To help with onboard beverage purchases, Celebrity really offers guests a comprehensive variety of non-alcholic AND alcholic packages (not just for wine like other lines!).

Here are the details of each package and the starting prices:

A 15% service charge will be added to each package.  The packages cannot be shared, are not sold by the day and must be purchased for the duration of your cruise.

Celebrity Cruises' Cabanas, 'The Alcoves' are Full of Style, Luxury and Relaxation

Stylish, chic, modern, sophisticated, elegant, graceful.

All without being pretentious.

Such a thing does not exist, you say?

In that case, your next vacation goal is to experience ‘The Alcoves’ on Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Silhouette or Celebrity Reflection.

Just steps away from Celebrity’s revolutionary Lawn Club, a freshly manicured lawn with a Country Club atmosphere, The Alcoves are eight cabana-style settings that comfortably accommodate two to four guests.

Relax within your own private hip bubble, just overflowing with style and ambiance, and take in the sea views behind a lush, green lawn.

Within The Alcoves, guests can enjoy stunning views of the lawn and sea; ambient mood lighting for cozy, romantic evenings; complimentary amenities including:

  • A fresh fruit plate
  • Hand-held fans
  • Chilled towels
  • Four bottles of water
  • All-day use of an iPad loaded with a variety of music, movies, games and magazines.

Guests enjoying The Alcoves can even stay in touch with family and friends back home, if they choose, as the area is fully WiFi-equipped (fee applies).

An impressive amenity, Celebrity presents each airy cabana with a dedicated Alcove Attendant. Just a quick phone call to your attendant and you can purchase a la carte beverages, spa services, or, my favorite, themed picnic baskets.

These fresh, themed picnic baskets from the specialty restaurants onboard include antipasti, Mediterranean seafood pasta, and salads from Tuscan Grille; jumbo shrimp cocktail, assorted berries, organic breads and healthy salads from Murano; fruit brochettes and country-inspired sandwiches from Bistro on Five. Plus, have fun trying to choose from the desserts and a special beverage menu.

Wine and cheese evenings under the stars also can be arranged, along with special spa services, once onboard.

Just imagine, unwinding with an ocean breeze underneath the shade of a chic, white awning as you are receiving an indulgent massage, facial, or manicure. I believe that is the definition of magnificent.

A wide variety of spa services can be arranged for you to enjoy in your Alcove, you can find the full list here.

  • The Alcoves can be booked online in advance, which is convenient for those that want to plan their cruise vacation before setting sail. It also ensures that you are guaranteed a day of luxury, these cabanas have been very popular and reservations fill quickly.
  • The Alcoves are booked as full-day rentals, from 9 am to 9 pm, or can be reserved for the entire voyage.
  • Rates are $99 per Alcove (not per guest) per day on days in port, and $149 per day on days at sea.
  • Special values are available for guests who book one of The Alcoves for several days or for the entire cruise.
