Our Dreams Came True and More on the Carnival Dream

My family and I just returned from a week on the dreamy Carnival Dream sailing out of Port Canaveral, Florida.

We booked it last minute (husband actually got time off!) which I do not recommend because it was extremely stressful attempting to get everything in order and everyone packed for a week in just two short days.

We drove to the port, a nice option to save money if you do book last minute as airfare costs considerably more the closer to your travel date.

The ship is one of Carnival’s newest, beat out only by the new baby of the fleet, the Carnival Magic.  It is a very large ship with a gross tonnage of 130,000 that can hold 3, 646 passengers.

Overall, I was very impressed with the ship. It was extremely clean, fun and vibrant. The 3 spectacular water slides got a big two-thumbs up from us and everyone we met onboard. The ship’s Cruise Director and Assistant Cruise Director were absolutely hilarious and made sure everyone knew they were on the Fun Ships, that’s for sure.

The entertainment was varied and done well, and the Dream’s Dancers were super friendly. They even offered hip hop classes during their down time!

The entire staff was friendly, helpful and went out of their way to ensure our vacation was a memorable one.  They were very detail-oriented and especially attentive to my daughters.  They always had their favorites, whether is was soda or meal or towel animal, ready even before they were requested!

The waitstaff  made dinner fun with songs, dancing, magic tricks and special napkin folding lessons. The food was delicious, as it always is on Carnival but we really enjoyed the variety.

We had a wonderful time and made lots of memories that I know I will always hold dear.  My children are 9 and 13 and we always have a house full of kids, so it was nice to do something with just the four of us.

What better way to reconnect with your family then on a Carnival Cruise vacation, where fun times on the FunShips are endless?!

FunShip 2.Whoa with our Carnival Cruise Insider, Megan Morra

Guest Blogger and Business Development Director, Megan Morra

Just when you thought they couldn’t add any more FUN … they did!

Carnival Cruise Line is adding some cool new features to their ships, which they are calling FunShip 2.0.… and I’m talking major Facelift, not just Botox… so it’s more like FunShip 2.WHOA!

The Carnival Liberty was the first ship to get these features.  They added two cool new poolside bars called BlueIguana Tequila Bar (featuring frozen tequila drinks and cold Mexican beer) and Red Frog Rum Bar (offering island rums and all the pretty umbrellas to go with them).

My favorite is the Red’s Rum Treasure … it’s Red’s secret rum recipe made with premium aged Zacapa 23 Rum, Coconut Rum, Sprit, Guava Pineapple Juice and a touch of nutmeg (well I guess it’s not secret anymore!).

Once my thirst was quenched I headed over to my personal new favorite, Guy’s Burger Joint!  Carnival partnered with Guy Fieri from the Food Network to create amazing new burgers and fresh cut fries as part of lunch (and it’s FREE)!

Imagine the wind blowing through your hair, the sun beating down on your shoulders and a stream of yummy burger toppings falling down your arm?  And if you get too sticky just take a jump into the pool.

Now, I cannot say what burger I liked best (I tried them all) but I will ask you … what burger are you going to order?

Carnival Cruise Line's Newest Ship, the Carnival Magic Now in Galveston!

Carnival Cruise Line is giving Galveston, Texas the breath of fresh air that it deserves.

Starting this past November, Carnival’s newest ship, the Carnival Magic, made Galveston its home port.

This beauty of a ship will be sailing year-round from Galveston, cruising 7 night Western Caribbean and Bahamas/Florida itineraries.

Launched in May 2011, the Magic is an impressive 130,000 tons and carries 3,690 guests with a crew of 1,367.

A couple of many things not to miss:

  • SportSquare, a fitness and fun area that features the first ever ropes course at sea,the SkyCourse.
  • Cherry on Top, a new candy store!
  • Cucina del Capitano, an Italian family-style dining experience.
  • Make sure you check out RedFrog Pub which is Caribbean inspired in its food and drink, and just an overall fun place to be.
  • Carnival WaterWorks boasting two waterslides and splash zones.
  • The Lanai, a convenient wraparound walkway on the promenade… and home of the hot tub.
  • Camp Carnival, Circle “C” and Club O2
  • Serenity Adult-Only Area, where kids are neither seen nor heard.

Having fun is easy to do on a Carnival cruise, and the Carnival Magic is no exception. Let the good times roll — day or night. Play a family-friendly game of mini golf (9 holes), shoot hoops, take a run or even challenge yourself on the ropes course. Get fit in the fitness center, relax and unwind by the pool or in Cloud 9 Spa… or if adult interaction is what you crave, the Serenity adults-only retreat is the perfect spot. As the sun sets, watch the entertainment excitement set in and see a show or laugh and enjoy good times with friends in one of the ship’s many bars, clubs and lounges. And don’t forget about the food… the delicious and abundant food.

Don’t worry about running out of things to do — you won’t — but don’t be surprised if you have trouble deciding what to do next!
