Princess Cruise Line has announced that the Grand Princess will undergo a dramatic transformation.
The cruise ship made its inaugural voyage in 1998 as the first in the “Grand” class of ships. It is currently 109,000 tons and holds 2,600 passengers.
During the 24 day dry dock, the ship will receive the most massive transformation a Princess vessel has ever been through. The ship will receive many of the upgraded areas that have been introduced on Princess’ newer ships.
- The signature Piazza atrium will be added–Alfedo’s Pizzeria will boast the best pizza at sea. Guests will be able to watch as their own personal pizza is created. This sit down venue will be a great place to grab a slice of pizza with your favorite beer, wine or other beverage.
- “Leaves” is the new Library/tea bar. Here passengers will be able to make their own tea with a special blend of teas, herbs fruit and spices. There will be a tea sommelier available to help with the blending of over 500 different teas!
- One5 lounge will be a chic new nightclub and will replace the Skywalker Nightclub for the place to be and be seen. It will be located on deck “15” which was the inspiration behind the name “One5.”
- If you love prime aged beef and seafood including lobster be sure to check out the Crown Grill where your favorites will be expertly prepared and served in the theater style restaurant.
- Crooner’s Martini Lounge will be a new addition to the ship,
- Other areas to get a makeover will include the casino, art gallery, lotus spa horizon court and the wedding chapel–10 New suites will also be added.
After this major face-lift the Grand Princess will be better than ever. Her first voyage after these upgrades take place will be on May 5th from Ft. Lauderdale on a transatlantic sailing to her new home-port Southampton, where she will embark on a series of European itineraries.
