Exotic Cruise Destinations

Antarctica, the Galapagos, Amazon River- these are just a few of the “off the beaten path” destinations you can reach by taking cruise.  Most people think that cruises just go to the Caribbean or Alaska or the Mediterranean.

Not true!

You can experience these unusual, yet exotic destinations while cruising on a small or luxury cruise ship.  There are several small intimate vessels that can reach these unique destinations; get you up close and personal to the incredible beauty and amazing wildlife

Antarctica-

  • Take an excursion and view the some of the world’s rarest wildlife (No human eye saw Antarctica until about 230 years ago!).
  • You will have a naturalist as your guide to point out Antarctica’s unique and fragile environment, as well as efforts to conserve it, during a visit to a working scientific research station.
  • Small and midsize ships can explore less visited areas because they can go in shallow waters where big ships cannot sail.

The Galapagos Islands–

  • Consist of 19 islands about 620 miles from the coast of Ecuador.
  • The landscape of the islands is relatively barren and volcanic, but beautiful nonetheless.
  • During the 19th and early 20th centuries the islands were inhabited by very few settlers and were used as a penal colony, the last closing in 1959 when the islands were declared a national park. The Galapagos were subsequently listed as a World Heritage Site in 1978.
  • You can get there by boat, ship or plane.
  • Taking a luxury cruise is a great way to get up close and personal with the wildlife and habitats of a variety of animals including giant tortoises, sea lions, penguins, marine iguanas and different bird species.
  • Explore the Galapagos islands aboard intimate & luxurious boutique small ships and yachts from premium brands such as Celebrity Cruises
  • After taking in the island life, get back to the main land and head for Peru to visit Machu Picchu which is often referred to as “the lost city of the Incas”.  This year marks the 100th anniversary of its discovery!

The Amazon River–

  • The world’s second longest river. It may not be the longest, but it is the widest.
  • On your excursions, experience the Amazon rainforest–one of the few remaining places in the world to experience nature in its original form– is the home to over 300 species of mammals, thousands of freshwater fish, tens of thousands of trees and nearly a hundred thousand other plant species.  On top of the wildlife there are so many species of insects, some experts say it’s about 20,000. Others say it’s closer to millions! New species of wildlife are still being discovered today!
  • A number οf cruise lines wіtһ five-star reputations, lіkе Crystal Cruises, Holland America аnd Silversea tο name a few, provide regular itineraries tһаt include tһе Amazon River. Or try a luxury riverboat cruise to really get face to face with nature!
